Useful Information

People with restricted physical abilities

Due to the water level, the use of the boarding ramp adapted for motorized mobility aids is not allowed for all our cruises departing from Montreal until further notice.

On board the AML Cavalier Maxim.

Manual wheelchairs and motorized mobility aids

(Motorized wheelchairs, three-wheel and four-wheel mobility scooters)

  • For reasons related to security, the maximum number of people using manual wheelchairs or motorized mobility aids is ten (10) with a maximum of four (4) using motorized mobility aids.
  • Given that additional staff must be provided on the ship for security reasons, it is necessary for people in manual wheelchairs or motorized mobility aids to book at least 48 hours in advance and to specify the type of motorized mobility aids used to the AML representative at the time of booking;
  • Croisières AML could make an exception to the above rule if passengers needing mobility aids arrive at the pier for boarding without a reservation and the number of staff on the ship is adequate to meet the security requirements;
  • It is possible that such a reservation cannot be respected given the unavailability of Deck C due to a private cruise (ex: charter) or for temporary and exceptional circumstances  (ex: water level of the dock at boarding ) not allowing the use of the ramp adapted for motorized mobility aids.

Disabled passengers not requiring the use of a wheelchair

  • Access to the ships at all times;
  • Assistance from the crewmembers from their arrival at footbridge or before, depending on the passengers needs.

On board the AML Louis Jolliet, AML Grand Fleuve*, and AML Levant.

Motorized mobility aids
(Motorized wheelchairs, three-wheel and four-wheel mobility scooters)

  • Given the total weight of the wheelchair combined with that of the occupant, the settings of such a chair and the lack of grip, it is not possible to embark any type of electric wheelchair on board the ships.
  • In order to participate in a cruise, we invite our disabled guests to be transferred to a manual wheelchair before showing up at the departure platform.

Manual wheelchairs

  • Access to the ships at all times, regardless of the tides.
  • Depending on the individual in question, three or four members of our crew will assist the person in moving about and in changing decks.
  • For the duration of the cruise, when necessary, the passenger can call upon members of our crew in the same way in order to be assisted in moving about.
  • Embarcation and disembarkation will be assisted by crewmembers.
